Dutch stoner rock unit KOMATSU was formed in early 2010 by members of the local Eindhoven Rock City scene. Many years of music experience in all kind of bands as well as individual creativity, created a brutal mix of sludge, stoner and metal. The band released a self-titled EP in 2011 then their first album 'Manu Armata' in February 2012, which was largely acclaimed by the international press. Their sophomore album 'Recipe For Murder One' (2016) featured Nick Oliveri's vocals on two songs, and appeared on several end of year lists while the song "Lockdown" (with Nick Oliveri on vocals) was nominated as Song of the Year by 3voor12. In January 2018, KOMATSU entered the Void Studio with producer Pieter Kloos to record their third effort 'A New Horizon'.
Over the years, KOMATSU have gained popularity, through their performance at the official Queens Of The Stone Age afterparty in Effenaar (Eindhoven, Netherlands), as a support act for international heavyweights (Truckfighters, Karma to Burn, The Sword, Red Fang, Clutch, Nashville Pussy, High on Fire, Corrosion of Conformity, Baroness); then went on tour with John Garcia, Nick Oliveri’s Mondo Generator, Duel or The Freeks. During a tour with Brant Bjork, they played alongside four Kyuss former members (Garcia, Oliveri, Bjork, Homme).
In early 2020, the "super massive mothersludgers" recorded their new album 'Rose of Jericho' with Peter van Elderen (Peter Pan Speedrock) at Studio Iglesias, Eindhoven (Netherlands). Pieter Kloos did the mastering work at the Void Studio, Eindhoven. KOMATSU's new album 'Rose of Jericho' is coming out on February 5th, 2021 via Heavy Psych Sounds.
