NYTE VYPR – the first officially-sanctioned side-tendril of genre-agnostic multimedia kollectiv Circle of Sighs – performs its third show (and first as a trio) on Monday, April 10th at Transplants Brewing in Palmdale, CA. They will be joined by Swiss neo-no-wavers torpedo, Long Beach noise merchants Glut, and free-jazz freakout freaks Anything!
That such a formidable lineup would gather on a Monday in L.A.’s high desert is cause enough for celebration. But NYTE VYPR ups the ante by releasing its latest single and lyric video entitled “The Whyte Wytch.” Herein NYTE VYPR pushes dark ambient deeper into the lightless void than it has ever gone before and it’s easy to see why “blackened krautrock” is the group’s self-designated semi-ironic genre tag of choice: Picture Xasthur fronting Tangerine Dream. Throw in some David Gilmour-esque psychedelic lap steel and a bleak occult-driven narrative and we’ve got ourselves a tasty pudding.
