Rock for People Advent Calendar Reveals Fourth Headliner – Machine Gun Kelly

Rock for People festival has a special present for fans on St. Nicholas Day, an announcement of the last headliner – the phenomenal Machine Gun Kelly. The American musician, whose real name is Colson Baker, completes the star-studded headlining quartet, which also includes MUSE, Slipknot, and The 1975, set to perform between June 8 and 11 at the 27th Rock for People, one of the biggest music festivals in the Czech Republic. “We managed to pay off the debt to our fans from the covid year 2020, when we had Machine Gun Kelly in the lineup, but we didn't manage to move him to this year like most of the performers” festival director Michal Thomes comments on the announcement and continues: “for the two years, this artist has grown exponentially and that's why he earned the position of Rock for People headliner and prime time on Friday”. The advent calendar started off with a huge success – the first window revealed Canadian pop-punk legends Simple Plan, whose smash hits such as Welcome to My Life or Perfect everyone knows by heart. There are 20% of tickets left in the current edition of 4-day tickets to the biggest Rock for People in history. Now that the fourth headliner has been announced, one-day tickets are also available for purchase. For the first time ever, ticket buyers can divide their purchase into three installments without increase, thanks to the festival’s partner Twisto and the option Purchase In Thirds.

Over the last few years, the Rock for People advent calendar has become every music fan’s favorite part of the Christmas season – every day after midnight, fans can find a new name in the calendar on the festival’s website. Each afternoon, the festival posts a riddle on social media related to the next to-be-announced name, which tests the fans’ imagination and knowledge. After Simple Plan, the calendar has also revealed pop provocateur Ashnikko, American pop-punk musician Mod Sun, and Australian metalcore band Polaris. Because the line-up of the festival grows each day, it is recommended to follow the festival on social media and be in the know.

With the priciest line-up in history, the 27th Rock for People will offer world-class performances on one of Europe’s biggest stages, the so-called ‘Fat Lady’ from Germany. On the first night, the stage will host metal kings SLIPKNOT and their latest album The End, So Far; MGK will take the stage on Friday; Saturday night show will be provided by British guitar sensation THE 1975; and the final day of the 27th Rock for People will close off with a monstrous show from MUSE, recent recipients of an MTV Europe Music Award, as part of the tour for their ninth studio album Will of the People.

Rock for People will take place at Park 360 in Hradec Králové, a venue that is under the festival’s long-term management. It is planned that the area should become energetically self-sufficient by 2030. The festival is a pioneer in the field of ecology and social responsibility – it emphasizes renewable resources, using stages that run on helium (first time in the Czech Republic in 2021), solar power, and wind. The festival measures the event’s carbon footprint and recycles 17 types of waste. On top of being wheelchair accessible, the festival also removes barriers between generations, welcoming hundreds of the city’s elders at a selected performance of a legendary artist from the Czech music scene every year.

Other big bands of the festival include British metalcore band Architects, Canadian punk-rockers Billy Talent, and American rap-rock band Hollywood Undead. In addition, Rock for People will also see performances from bands such as I Prevail, Lorna Shore, Nothing But Thieves, Paledusk, Set It Off, Sleep Token, The Amazons and While She Sleeps. Names from the Czechoslovak scene are also featured – so far, these include Slovak rockers From Our Hands; the unpredictable hell-raisers from Hentai Corporation; I Love You Honey Bunny, a band well-known to the RFP fans; Severals, a band representing harder genres; and post-hardcore band Shogun Tokugawa with an exclusive comeback performance.

Full-festival tickets are on sale in the current edition for €145 at GoOut.net: https://rockforpeople.cz/en/vstupenky/?menuTickets=true.
Special tickets (junior, senior and VZP) camping and other accommodation tickets and parking tickets are already on sale.

MUSE
A breathtaking futuristic show, hypnotic effects, unforgettable vocals, and lyrics that go deep under the skin. This and much more are MUSE, one of the biggest and most successful rock bands in the music world. The band’s new show, the follow-up to their recently released album “Will of the People”, ranks among the best live musical performances to be seen and experienced on the current music scene. The trio consisting of Matt Bellamy, Dominic Howard, and Chris Wolstenholme returns to the Czech Republic for the umpteenth time. Apart from their premiere show at Rock for People in 2010, they have already played several sold-out concerts at the biggest Czech concert arena and their last open-air concert in Prague’s Letňany in 2019. “We will be victorius!” Muse have won numerous music awards including two Grammy Awards, an American Music Award, six MTV Europe Music Awards, two Brit Awards, eleven NME Awards, and seven Q Awards, amongst others. Muse also received a new Grammy Awards nomination this year.

SLIPKNOT

There was never a band like SLIPKNOT, and there will never be another. Like a spore out of the Midwest, they’ve quietly bloomed into the most uncompromising, undeniable, and unique presence on the planet  whose influence transcends genres and generations. Since sowing the seeds for revolution in Iowa during  1999, these musical outliers have captured a Grammy Award alongside 10 nominations, scored 12  Platinum / 41 Gold album certifications around the world, and logged over 8.5 billion global streams and  3.5 billion video views to date – unprecedented for a rock act in this generation or any other. Rolling Stone cited the seminal platinum-selling 2001 album Iowa among “The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time,”  while The Ringer attested, “They’re the most important heavy band of their era.” In addition to marking  the group’s third consecutive #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200, their sixth full-length album, WE ARE  NOT YOUR KIND, bowed at #1 in twelve countries worldwide in 2019.

MACHINE GUN KELLY

Colson Baker, better known by his stage name Machine Gun Kelly or MGK, is an American musician from Cleveland, Ohio. His career can be divided to the rap and pop-punk parts, where he's nowadays collecting music awards, chart numbers, and sold-out shows throughout the whole world. His last rap album Hotel Diablo was released in 2019. The next, very successful album Tickets To My Downfall, which came out in 2020, was pure pop-punk. His latest album Mainstream Sellout (2022), is a bit of both worlds - a bit of rap (at least with tracks where he has Lil Wayne or Yung Thug on feats) and a lot of guitars. To step outside of the rap scope has paid off - to this day, he's been selling out shows successfully, his work has pretty big success among his fans and the music critics as well, and no one seems to have a problem with his genre/sonic transformation. On his last two albums, artists like Halsey, Yungblud, and Bring Me The Horizon took their parts.

THE 1975

After 20 years together, The 1975 decided it was time for a return to form—a way to celebrate their beginnings and showcase their growth. The result is their fifth effort Being Funny in a Foreign Language—perhaps the band’s most intimate sounding record yet. After two years in a pandemic where technology was a means of coping with isolation, the band began to find “raw moments” in the everyday and in music. Being Funny seeks to do just that. It grapples with love and loss in the post-internet age. “I feel like people crave things that require as little technology as possible,” says frontman Healy. So the band has tried to translate that into their latest album. The shift has happened in their lives as well. They all feel that they have grown up both personally and musically, and they want to show that with their latest album. The band has been through almost every genre. Even though this might not be a thing for everyone, a lot of people can’t get enough of these cool kids.
