CORRODED (Eng)

1. First of all we would like to ask for a small introduction for all those people who don’t know you.

CORRODED is a band from a small town called Ånge in the middle of Sweden. We are 4 guys who play Hard Rock and enjoy every minute of it.

2. You just released your latest album “Defcon Zero”, tell us about the writing and recording process.

On this record we went back to the old school way of writing stuff. Most of the songs came from that either me (Jens), Tomas or Peter came up with a riff, and from there we started to jam on it. We tried a lot of different stuff and when we where happy with the result we recorded it. This time we recorded/mixed and produced most of the album ourselves, so that was a completely new process for us as a band. We really wanted to keep the “live” feeling left on the record, and I think that the result is a bit rougher, harder than what people are used to when it comes to a CORRODED album.

3. 5 years between the new material and “State of Disgrace”, why did you decide to release a compilation between?

We had the opportunity to play a live show with the Nordic Chamber Orchestra, and thought that it would be cool to release a live album of that show. And since we where celebrating our ten year anniversary that year (2014), we thought that a double album with the live show and a compilation would be nice to present for the fans. Unfortunately the label had to recall all the stuff, so now there is no compilation anymore.

4. Sweden, when we talk about Metal is more known for Death Metal scene. Of course you are playing a mix of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, but does Death Metal have any influence on you?

Yes of course, I mean it’s a big part of the Swedish metal scene and we all listen to various Death Metal bands. As you may or may not know the lyrics to “Carry Me My Bones” is written by Anders Fridén from In Flames. And we did the live show with the Nordic Chamber Orchestra together with Entombed.

5. Talking about influences, which are your biggest ones?

When it comes to influences that we share in the band, I think we all can say Black Sabbath. For me personally my favourite band is AC/DC which perhaps don’t shine through in the stuff that I’m writing. But I’m always trying to let that rock’n roll nerve be part of the songs.

6. Do you all listen same styles or you like a very different kind of music in your free time?

We all listen to a lot of different stuff on our free time. But it’s not like anyone in the band just listens to one genre. One day someone can be really into Dying Fetus, and the next day it’s all ‘bout Status Quo.

7. What do you love doing most when you are not composing or playing?

A lot of different things, just to hang with family and friends is really nice. I like to play golf, computer games or to take a motorcycle ride in the summer.

8. I saw you have few dates confirmed in Sweden for this summer. Will you do a long tour presenting the album too?

Europe only or something bigger? We will start with Sweden this summer, but we are right now looking into the possibility to do at least a European tour this fall.

9. Your best and worst experience on tour?

That’s a really hard question, because so many things have happened over the years. I guess that the Airbourne tour was absolutely one of the best things that we have done. One of the worst things in general has been all the tour bus break downs that we have experienced. We did a really cool (pun intended) tour with Avenged Sevenfold in Scandinavia. The only problem was that it was fall when we did it, and the heater was broken in the bus.

10. What do you prefer, small venues or big festivals? Why?

Everything, as long as we get to play there.

11. What do you think about Metal scene nowadays?

The Metal scene is as vibrant and lively as it has ever been. The proof for that is all the forums, social medias and so forth is full of people that are telling each other that they are listening to the “wrong” band. If the metal scene was dying it would have been quiet everywhere.

12. Anything else to add?

Hope that we see you all really soon on tour somewhere.

Thanks a lot!!!
