Richmond, VA's INTER ARMA have announced their plans for their highly-anticipated third full-length record. The as-yet-to-be-titled album follow-up to 2013's Sky Burial will again be recorded and produced at Dark Art Audio with Mikey Allred (Yautja, Hivelords), where the band has produced its last two releases. The record is due out early next year via Relapse.
The band commented on the new album,
"On September 19th we’ll return to Dark Art Audio in Madison, TN to begin recording our third full length record. The sonic alchemist Mikey Allred will once again sit in the captain’s seat for this journey. Album title, etc. are TBA. As always, expect the unexpected."
After having completed a US tour this past May with pessimistic Nashville sludge crew Yautja that also included an appearance at Maryland Deathfest, INTER ARMA have also announced new touring plans. The band will be embarking on a series of US shows this October directly supporting Kylesa. Further support will come from Indian Handcrafts and Irata. INTER ARMA are still touring in support of their two latest releases, 2014's The Cavern and 2013's Sky Burial, both of which can be streamed via INTER ARMA's official Bandcamp HERE. Bio/Info:
The versatile and genre-defying five-piece INTER ARMA (consisting of T.J. Childers - Drums, Steven Russell - Guitars, Trey Dalton - Guitars, Mike Paparo - Vocals, Joe Kerkes - Bass) formed in 2006 and released its crushing debut full-length Sundown via Forcefield Records in 2010 to much critical acclaim. Combining a punk rock ethos with an esoteric blend of psychedelia, black metal, and doom/sludge, the quintet quickly developed a name for itself in the underground through relentless touring and mesmerizing live performances. In 2012, INTER ARMA released a 12" EP entitled Destroyer (Toxic Assets Records), which was strong enough to catch the attention of Relapse, who signed the band later that year.
Last year, INTER ARMA released The Cavern, a 45+ minute, single song EP . Originally written during the summer of 2009, but reworked and perfected over the last few years, The Cavern was recorded in 2013 during breaks from the relentless touring the band completed with the likes of Baroness, Russian Circles, Ulcerate and numerous others. In 2013, INTER ARMA also released the monolithic Sky Burial, a doomy, hour-long excursion through unpredictable textures and sound. The band's raw, uninhibited approach merges doom metal, psychedelic sludge, black metal, noise and much more, and has established the band as a uniquely powerful force in modern extreme metal - both The Cavern and Sky Burial found INTER ARMA widespread critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, NPR, Rolling Stone, and many more publications worldwide.
