Stream KOMMAND’s Death Age HERE.
Death Age, the gnarled second album from Los Angeles, California-based death metal quintet,KOMMAND, is now streaming in its entirety ahead of its worldwide release through 20 Buck Spin this Friday.
The follow-up to their debut LP Terrorscape, released in 2020 via Maggot Stomp, Death Agemaintains the armed to the teeth savage militancy of earlier material from KOMMAND, now taken even further into enemy territory with more grisly wartorn brutality than ever. Like the coordinated bombardment of an entire continent, Death Age is an air raid siren for imminent cataclysm.
The ominous atmosphere on Death Age heralds the single-minded concentrated objective; to batter, demolish, and destroy with no quarter given. Death metal of this kind taps into the most primitive, untamed instincts, advancing like a convoy of tanks through occupied territory, heedless of whatever or whoever stands in its path. From opener “Final Virus” to closer “Collapse Metropolis,” KOMMAND’s vision of a dystopian hellscape, cities permanently scarred by heavy weaponry, and those unfortunates who survived the onslaught never relents or offers respite. Death Age thus renders a terminal epitaph on the bloody trash heap of near-future history.
Death Age was recorded by Mike Kriebel with additional recording by Andrew Oswald at Paradise Records, mixed and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Dream Unending, Gravesend, Daeva), and completed with photography by Kris Kirk and artwork by Bharatadanu. Guaranteed to be one of the year’s most decimating releases, Death Age is detrimental listening for followers of Bolt Thrower, Asphyx, Acephalix, Vastum, Hail Of Bullets, Stormcrow, Hellshock, and Sanctum.

KOMMAND Live:
4/14/2023 Genghis Cohen - Los Angeles, CA *Death Age release show
“Inspiration arrived quickly, but KOMMAND were at work on something meant to withstand the passing of ages… The results of their efforts and commitment can be heard across every track, in all the riffs, in each growled vocal line, etched like an epitaph into the black granite of these six songs.” – Decibel Magazine
“…a completely primitive death assault... A flat out assault out of the gate, this LA crew replicate the smog and tar pits environment around them ably. Crackling distorto-guitar, cavernous vocals and unrelenting snare thwack knock you down and don’t let you up til it’s over and the ruins are smoking around you.” – Metal Injection
“They play no-frills death metal with deep underground punk/metal roots.” – Jacob Bannon, Converge
“…Death Age is a record that propels the KOMMAND name even further into the stratosphere than their much-talked about debut release garnered. I especially appreciated how KOMMAND, at no point, tried to hide or disguise their performance as anything offer than what is stark in front of us. Seven tracks of pure and unadulterated old school death metal that never tries to be more than what the first track otherwise presents itself as.” – The Razor’s Edge
“KOMMAND dig into your most animalistic inhibitions on Death Age, a record that’s over in a flash but leaves you properly battered in its rearview mirror. There’s no concern for safety or physical well-being when these tracks strike, as this is death metal as its most savage. If relentless and unforgiving is what you’re seeking, KOMMAND find a way to jam it down your throat and make you savor the horrifying aftertaste.” – Meat Mead Metal
