Next Life – Norwegian 8-Bit Thrash Metal Group Reveal Title Track For New Album “Guru Meditation” Via Heavy Blog Is Heavy

Formed more than twenty years ago, Norway’s Next Life was one of the first bands in the world to incorporate 8-bit computer synthesizers or so called chiptunes into metal music.

The group created by Hai Nguyen Dinh are now ready to release their fourth album “Guru Meditation” via Fysisk Format on August 21st and just recently they unveiled the opening song and title track thru Heavy Blog Is Heavy

"Instead of evoking nostalgia and a pastel palette, the electronics on “Guru Meditation” amplify the punk, almost grindcore, aggression on the track." States Heavy Blog Is Heavy’s writer Eden Kupermintz. "They lend everything a sense of urgency, never far away from the blistering drums, buzz-saw guitar riffs, and plain old fury that makes up the core of this track."

Listen to “Guru Meditation” here.

"Next Life has always been about using old technology, not just for the nostalgic sound of it, but as an expression of our political view." Says Next Life's mastermind Hai "Technology and humanity is in unbalance and we need to step back and make better use of the existing technology rather than the raging consumerism of keeping updated with the shifting technology. Music and art is the first place where new ideas can take form and, in time, change society."

Recorded between 2019 and 2020 by Hai and Hans-Petter Lund Jørgensen and mastered by Audun Strype at Strype Audio, “Guru Meditation” features the cover artwork of Hai and Sturla Sandsdalen. Pre-orders are now available at this location.
