Hace unos meses pensábamos que sería otro año fatídico. Sin festivales, sin conciertos; sin felicidad... Pero de pronto empezamos a ver algo de luz al final del túnel.
Ese momento fue cuando el “OEF” público que sería posible celebrar el festival pero en un formato mucho más pequeño (1000 personas en principio, que como sabréis, se amplió a 5000).
Todos felices, y todo preparado para poner rumbo a nuestro lugar favorito; El campo de batalla “Battlelfield” en Trutnov.
Esta vez llegamos el día anterior, tiempo suficiente para acampar y sentarnos entre buenos amigos a tomar un par de cervezas frías y ponernos al día. Más felices que unas perdices! Pues al día siguiente empezaba nuestro festival favorito.
A una hora oportuna plegamos marras y a dormir, para estar bien frescos y empezar el día con energía y ganas de conciertos y fiesta.
Amanecimos bien temprano, pues los nervios estaban a flor de piel y solo pensamos en disfrutar del evento. Nuestros amigos nos esperaban en la mítica gasolinera de al lado del festi, alguno más “contento” que otros (con mucho cariño; Urkito ;) ). A las 12h recogimos nuestras pulseras y esperamos en el recinto.
Ese día compramos el merch oficial del OEF, siempre hay unas colas enormes y se suele agotar rápido. Este año pasamos otro rato largo a la espera, pero conseguimos prácticamente todo lo que teníamos en la lista.
Mala suerte para el “Freak Fest” ya que estuvo lloviendo intensamente durante casi todo el evento, por suerte al empezar las bandas el tiempo mejoró y nos permitió gozar de una jornada genial, disfrutamos de cada una de las descargas de la tarde, en especial “Spasm” e “Insanity Alert”, no nos cansamos de verlos en directo. Y para sorpresa, pues acostumbrados al tipo de bandas que suelen tocar en el OEF estaban un poco fuera de lugar; “Hate”, que dieron un concierto digno de mención.
Esa noche nos retiramos pronto, ya que al día siguiente nos esperaba la jornada más dura. Siento profunda envidia por toda esa gente que solo necesita dormir 3 o 4 horas en un festival, será que los años ya empiezan a pesar, pero los aquí presentes necesitan sus 8 horas de sueño y más después de tanto litro de birra...
Sintiéndolo mucho nos perdimos un para de bandas esa mañana...
El sábado dio muchísimo de sí, un nivel increíble, destacando a “Schizophrenia”, la juventud viene pegando fuerte y cada vez que puedo ver a estos chavales belgas en vivo me gustan más. “Fleshcrawl” dieron un bolo brutal y muy emotivo, ya que fue el primero desde la terrible pérdida de su vocalista “Sven Gross”, pusieron 2 grandes paneles en su memoria durante el recital.
Los platos fuertes de la noche aterrizaban con los enormes “Yacøpsæ” y “Schirenc plays Pungent Stench”, que arrasaron con su primer set.
Mucha gente y mucha fiesta, también muchas horas disfrutando de geniales directos y la mejor compañía. 3 bandas más amenizaron la segunda jornada y ya era hora de retirarse para poder darlo todo el domingo.
Por suerte hoy el jolgorio comenzaba a las 12h, lo que nos dejaba tiempo suficiente para descansar y estar al 100% con la primera banda. Hoy teníamos muchas ganas de ver a “Turtle Rage”, ¡menudo directazo! y no éramos los únicos. En cuanto terminó de tocar el dúo berlinés se formó una gran cola para comprar merch. Tengo que mencionar un gran punto a su favor: el merch es muy variado y barato. La razón es muy simple: ellos mismos se encargan de hacerlo todo (DIY), grabaciones, imprimir etc.... Ahí el ahorro de costes y mucha más venta, grandes!
“Skorup/a” me sorprendieron muy gratamente.
La nueva banda de Bilos (Malignant Tumor), “Sick Sinus Syndrome” tocaba esa tarde. Los vimos el fin de semana anterior en Praga y nos gustó mucho, esta vez aún más rápidos y rudos, ¡geniales!
Todo lo que venía a continuación no tenía desperdicio.
“God Dethroned”, la banda más seria del festival, tuvieron que lidiar con los momentos más “Obscene Extreme” que haya visto en mis 6 años de espectadora. Eso sí, un concierto impoluto y más que profesional, bravo!
Y un cierre perfecto con “Schirenc Plays Pungent Stench” (esta vez tocando al completo su obra maestra -Been Caught Buttering-).
El nivel de bandas fue increíble, la mayoría locales y desde diversos puntos de Europa (“Black Sachbak” desde Israel), queda claro que esto es debido a las limitaciones, aún así nivel máximo como acostumbra el OEF cada año y un ambiente envidiable... Felicidad es lo que se respira aquí.
Este año menos gente pero aún así la misma sensación de festival normal, que nos hacía mucha falta, tras tanto sufrimiento.
Mil risas, mucha brillantina y sobre todo muchísima birra.
Y para ponerle la guinda al pastel; nos quedamos de fiesta en la carpa hasta que amaneció y sonó la última nota. Como siempre los últimos crápulas del festi, bailando y cantando clásicos de Maiden, Judas, Madonna, Abba etc...!! Que bien lo pasamos....
El lunes aún quedaba la After Party Oficial, este año se celebró en el edificio del merch, bastante más gente de la esperada, eso sí, se notaba la fiesta y el cansancio, pero había que aguantar. Bolos raudos, ruidosos y directos a la jugular de 5 bandas repitiendo que volvieron a darlo todo.
Y ahora sí, nos despedimos del recinto hasta el próximo año, ya que había que salir temprano para poder llegar a casa donde nos esperaban ansiosos nuestros amores perrunos y gatunos.
El festival como siempre se lleva un 10 sobre 10. Pues es el mejor festival del mundo.
Este año hemos conocido aún más gente maravillosa. Parece que te va a dar tiempo a estar con toda la peña que conoces, pero es una simple ilusión. En el OEF disfrutas tanto que el tiempo vuela.
Nos hubiera gustado pasar más tiempo con muchos de nuestros amigos y conocidos pero no pudo ser, espero que podamos solucionarlo en próximos eventos como el “Death Coffee Party” o el “Nice To Eat You Deathfest”.
Siempre es un placer escuchar cómo la gente que va por primera vez no simplemente piensa en repetir, sino que lo da por hecho, porque el festival engancha, y de qué manera ;)
Mil gracias a todas las personas que habéis hecho posible que estos días sean inolvidables.
Y como no, agradecer desde lo más profundo de nuestros corazones a Čurby y la maravillosa crew del OEF por hacer posible que disfrutemos del paraíso en la tierra durante unos días al año.
*Recordatorio sobre las pulseras “Cashless”: si aún tenéis algo de dinero no os olvidéis de hacer algo con ellas. La mejor opción es donarlo a la crew o bien a médicos sin fronteras, ya que hacen un trabajo digno de reconocimiento.

La cuenta atrás ha comenzado... OEF 2022!!!!

A few months ago we thought it would be another fateful year. No festivals, no concerts; no happiness ... But suddenly we began to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
That moment was when it was published that OEF would be possible to celebrate, even if it was a much smaller format (1000 people in principle, which as you know, was expanded to 5000).
Everyone happy, and everything ready to head to our favorite place; The battlefield in Trutnov.
This time we arrived the day before, enough time to camp and sit with good friends for a couple of cold beers and catch up. Happy as Larry, since the next day our favorite festival began. At an appropriate time we folded up and went to sleep, to be very fresh and start the day full of energy and power for the concerts and parties.
We woke up very early, because our nerves were on the surface. Only thinking about enjoying the event.
Our friends were waiting for us at the mythical gas station next to the festival, some of them more "happy" than the others (with much affection to my lovely Urkito).
At 12 o'clock we picked up our bracelets and waited in the enclosure.
That day we bought the official OEF merch, there are always huge queues and it usually sells out quickly. This year we spent another long time waiting but we got pretty much everything we had on the list.
Bad luck for the “Freak Fest” since it was raining heavily during almost the entire event, luckily when the bands started the weather improved and allowed us to enjoy a great day. We had plenty of joy during all the shows, especially "Spasm" and "Insanity Alert", we will never be tired of seeing them live. And to our surprise, because accustomed to the type of bands that usually play in the OEF they were a little out of place; “Hate”, who gave a very remarkable concert.
That night we went to bed early, as the hardest day awaited us. I feel deep envy for all those people who only need to sleep 3 or 4 hours in a festival. It may be that we are getting old, but we need our 8 hours of rest, more if we think about all the liters of beer ...
Sorry we missed a couple of bands that morning ...
Saturday was a huge day, such a big level. Highlighting: “Schizophrenia”, the young Belgian guys have been hitting hard for a few years. Every time we can see them live is a blast. "Fleshcrawl" gave a brutal and very sentimental gig, it was the first since the terrible loss of their vocalist "Sven Gross". They put 2 large panels in his memory during the recital, very emotional.
The main dishes of the night came with the huge “Yacøpsæ” and “Schirenc plays Pungent Stench”, with their first set swept, just perfect.
Lots of people and lots of party, too many hours enjoying great live shows and the best company. 3 more bands closed the second day and the time to rest was coming, Sunday was going to be a hard day.
Luckily, today the party started at 12 a.m., which gave us enough time to rest and be 100% fit for the first band. Today we really wanted to see “Turtle Rage”, what a great live-discharge! And we weren't the only ones thinking this way. As soon as the Berlin duo finished playing, a large queue formed to buy merch. I have to mention a great point in their favor: the merchandise is very varied and cheap. The reason is very simple: they are in charge of doing everything (DIY), recordings, printing etc ... The cost is reduced and the merchandise reduces its price, great!
"Skorup/a" surprised me very pleasantly.
Bilos (Malignant Tumor)'s new band, “Sick Sinus Syndrome” was playing that afternoon. We saw them the weekend before in Prague and we really liked them, this time even faster and rougher, super!
Everything that followed was huge.
"God Dethroned", the most serious band at the festival, had to deal with the most "Obscene Extreme" moments I have seen in my 6 years as a spectator. Of course, a pristine and super professional concert, bravo!
And a perfect closing with "Schirenc Plays Pungent Stench" (this time playing his masterpiece -Been Caught Buttering- in full).
The level of all of the bands was incredible, most of them local bands and from different parts of Europe (“Black Sachbak” from Israel), it is clear that this is due to limitations, even so, the maximum quality level, as the OEF has every year, and an enviable environment. .. Happiness is what you breathe here.
This year, fewer people, but still the same feeling of a normal festival, which we really needed, after so much suffering.
A thousand laughs, a lot of glitter and above all; a lot of beer and happiness.
And to put the cherry on the cake; we partied in the tent until dawn and the last note sounded. As always the last freaks of the festival, dancing and singing classics by Maiden, Judas, Madonna, Abba etc...! What a good time we had ...
On Monday there was still the Official After Party with 5 bands.
This year it was held in the merch building, a lot more people than expected, yes, you could feel the party and the fatigue in the environment, but you had to endure.
Fast, loud and direct to blow your brain, that was what the 5 bands playing that evening did.
And after “Black Sachbak”, yes, we said goodbye to the enclosure until next year, since we had to leave early to get home where our lovely dogs and cats awaited us anxiously.
As always, the festival takes 10 out of 10 points. No discussion about this fact!
Well, it is the best festival in the world!
This year we have met even more wonderful human beings. It seems that you will have time to be with all the people you know, but it is a simple illusion. You enjoy yourself so much at the OEF that time flies.
We would have liked to spend more time with many of our friends and acquaintances, but it couldn't be, I hope we can solve it in future events like the “Death Coffee Party” or “Nice To Eat You Deathfest”.
It is always a pleasure to hear how people who go for the first time do not just think about repeating, but take it for granted, because this festival is addictive, and in a hardway ;)
Many thanks to all the people who have made these days unforgettable.
And of course, thank you from the deepest of our hearts to Čurby and the wonderful crew from OEF; for making it possible for us to enjoy paradise on earth for a few days every year.
* Reminder about “Cashless” bracelets: if you still have some money, don't forget to take it out. The best option is to donate it to the crew or to Doctors Without Borders, since they do an amazing job worthy of recognition.

The countdown has begun ... OEF 2022!!!!

Vor einigen Monaten dachten wir, es würde ein weiteres schicksalhaftes Jahr werden. Keine Festivals, keine Konzerte; kein Glück ... Aber plötzlich sahen wir Licht am Ende des Tunnels.
In diesem Moment wurde veröffentlicht, dass OEF gefeiert werden kann, auch wenn es ein viel kleineres Format wäre (im Prinzip 1000 Personen, die, wie Sie wissen, auf 5000 erweitert wurden).
Alle sind glücklich und alles bereit, um zu unserem Lieblingsort zu gehen; Das Battlefield in Trutnov.
Diesmal sind wir am Vortag angekommen, genug Zeit, um zu campen und mit guten Freunden ein paar kalte Biere zu trinken und uns zu treffen. Glücklich wie Larry, begann am nächsten Tag unser Lieblingsfest. Zu einem nicht allzu späten Zeitpunkt legten wir uns schlafen, um mit voller Energie und Power für die Konzerte und Partys zu starten.
Wir sind früh aufgewacht, weil unsere Nerven an der Oberfläche lagen und nur dran denken konnten das Festival zu genießen.
Unsere Freunde erwarteten uns an der mythischen Tankstelle neben dem Festival, einige von ihnen "glücklicher" als die anderen (mit viel Zuneigung zu meinem lieben Urkito).
Um 12 Uhr holten wir unsere Armbänder ab und warteten auf dem Gelände.
An diesem Tag haben wir das offizielle OEF-Merch gekauft. Es gibt immer lange Warteschlangen und es ist normalerweise schnell ausverkauft. Dieses Jahr haben wir wieder lange gewartet, aber wir haben so ziemlich alles bekommen, was wir auf der Liste hatten.
Pech für das „Freak Fest“, denn es regnete fast während der gesamten Veranstaltung stark. Zum Glück verbesserte sich das Wetter als die Bands anfingen und wir konnten einen tollen Tag genießen. Wir hatten viel Freude bei allen Shows, besonders bei "Spasm" und "Insanity Alert". Wir werden nie müde, sie live zu sehen. Und zu unserer Überraschung, denn an die Art von Bands gewöhnt, die normalerweise im OEF spielen, waren sie etwas fehl am Platz; „Hate“, die ein sehr bemerkenswertes Konzert gaben.
In dieser Nacht gingen wir früh ins Bett, da der härteste Tag auf uns wartete. Ich empfinde tiefen Neid auf all die Leute, die auf einem Festival nur 3 oder 4 Stunden schlafen müssen. Es kann sein, dass wir alt werden, aber wir brauchen unsere 8 Stunden Ruhe, mehr, wenn wir an all die Liter Bier denken ...
Entschuldigung, dass wir an diesem Morgen ein paar Bands verpasst haben ...
Der Samstag war ein großartiger Tag, so ein hohes Niveau. Highlight: „Schizophrenia“, die jungen Belgier schlagen seit einigen Jahren hart zu. Jedes Mal, wenn wir sie live sehen können, ist es ein Knaller. "Fleshcrawl" gab einen brutalen und sehr sentimentalen Gig ab. Es war der erste seit dem schrecklichen Verlust ihres Sängers "Sven Gross". Sie haben ihm während des Konzerts auf 2 großen Tafeln in Erinnerung gerufen, sehr emotional.
Die Hauptgerichte des Abends kamen mit dem großen „Yacøpsæ“ und „Schirenc plays Pungent Stench“, die mit ihrem ersten Set abgeräumt haben, einfach perfekt.
Viele Leute, viel Party und viele Stunden mit großartigen Live-Shows und bester Gesellschaft. 3 weitere Bands schlossen den zweiten Tag und die Zeit zum Ausruhen kam, der Sonntag würde ein harter Tag werden.
Zum Glück ging heute erst um 12 Uhr die Party los, was uns genügend Zeit gab uns auszuruhen und 100% fit für die erste Band zu sein. Heute wollten wir unbedingt „Turtle Rage“ sehen, was für eine tolle Live-Entladung! Und wir waren nicht die einzigen, die so dachten. Kaum war das Berliner Duo fertig gespielt, bildete sich eine große Schlange, um Merch zu kaufen. Zu ihren Gunsten muss ich einen großen Punkt erwähnen: Ihr Merch ist sehr abwechslungsreich und günstig. Der Grund ist ganz einfach: Sie sind für alles zuständig (DIY), Aufnahmen, Druck usw. Die Kosten werden reduziert und somit der Preis, großartig!
"Skorup/a" hat mich sehr angenehm überrascht.
Bilos (Malignant Tumor) neue Band „Sick Sinus Syndrome“ spielte an diesem Nachmittag. Wir haben sie am Wochenende zuvor in Prag gesehen und sie haben uns sehr gut gefallen, diesmal noch schneller und rauer, super!
Alles was folgte war riesig.
"God Dethroned", die ernsthafteste Band des Festivals, hatte die meisten "Obscene Extreme" Momente, die ich in meinen 6 Jahren als Zuschauer erlebt habe. Natürlich ein makelloses und super professionelles Konzert, bravo!
Und ein perfekter Abschluss mit "Schirenc plays Pungent Stench", dieses Mal spielt er sein Meisterwerk -Been Caught Buttering- in voller Länge.
Das Niveau aller Bands war unglaublich, die meisten davon lokale Bands. Der Rest aus verschiedenen Teilen Europas („Black Sachbak“ aus Israel). Trotz der diesjährigen Einschränkungen, ein Maximum an Qualität, so wie jedes Jahr OEF und sein Umfeld.
Dieses Jahr, weniger Leute, aber immer noch das gleiche Gefühl eines normalen Festivals, das wir nach so viel Leid wirklich brauchten.
Tausend Lacher, viel Glitzer und vor allem; viel Bier und Freude.
Und um das Sahnehäubchen zu setzen; wir feierten im Zelt bis zum Morgengrauen, bis der letzte Ton ertönte. Wie immer die letzten Freaks des Festivals, tanzend und singend zu Klassikern von Maiden, Judas, Madonna, Abba etc... !! Was für eine schöne Zeit wir hatten...
Am Montag gab es noch die offizielle After Party mit 5 Bands.
Dieses Jahr fand es im Merch-Gebäude statt, viel mehr Leute als erwartet, ja, man konnte die Party und die Müdigkeit in der Umgebung spüren, aber du musstest ertragen.
Schnell, laut und direkt um dein Gehirn weg zu pusten, das machten die 5 Bands, die an diesem Abend spielten.
Und nach „Black Sachbak“, ja, verabschiedeten wir uns bis nächstes Jahr vom Gelände, da wir früh nach Hause mussten, wo unsere lieben Hunde und Katzen sehnsüchtig auf uns warteten.
Wie immer bekommt das Festival 10 von 10 Punkten. Keine Diskussion über diese Tatsache!
Nun, es ist das beste Festival der Welt!
Dieses Jahr haben wir noch mehr wundervolle Menschen kennengelernt. Es scheint, dass man genug Zeit hat, um mit all den Menschen zusammen zu feiern, die man auf den OEF kennt, aber es ist eine Illusion. Wir hatten so viel Spaß beim OEF, dass die Zeit wie im Fluge verging.
Wir hätten gerne mehr Zeit mit vielen unserer Freunde und Bekannten verbracht, aber das konnte nicht sein, ich hoffe wir können es bei zukünftigen Events wie der „Death Coffee Party“ oder dem „Nice To Eat You Deathfest“ nachholen.
Es ist immer eine Freude zu hören, wie Menschen, die zum ersten Mal dabei sind, nicht nur daran denken wieder zu kommen, sondern es für selbstverständlich ansehen, denn das Festival engagiert sich und auf welche Weise ;)
Vielen Dank an alle Menschen, die diese Tage unvergesslich gemacht haben.
Und natürlich danke ich Čurby und der wunderbaren Crew von OEF von ganzem Herzen; dafür, dass wir jedes Jahr für einige Tage das Paradies auf Erden genießen können.
