Basque/Cantabrian band VIRULENCY has reveled the cover to their debut album 'The Anthropodermic Manuscript Of Retribution', by Russian artist and illustrator Daemorph (7 H.Target, Epicardiectomy, Cephalotripsy, etc). The band is still busy on the recording for such full-length at Tempus Studios (Toledo) under the production of their own guitar player Asier Badiola.
It is scheduled to be released on Fall this year by New Standard Elite. More details soon.

Los vasco-cántabros VIRULENCY han desvelado la portada que acompañará a su álbum debut 'The Anthropodermic Manuscript Of Retribution', obra del ilustrador y artista ruso Daemorph (7 H.Target, Epicardiectomy, Cephalotripsy, etc). La banda sigue inmersa en el proceso de grabación de dicho trabajo en los Tempus Studios (Toledo), bajo la batuta del propio guitarrista Asier Badiola.
Se espera que sea editado en Otoño de este mismo año por New Standard Elite. Más detalles próximamente.

Comenzamos Marzo repasando el nuevo lanzamiento de los suecos Europe. Presentan War of Kings su décimo lanzamiento de estudio. Como presentación podemos recalcar una vez más el brillante trabajo realizado por Joey Tempest y John Norum. He querido antes de comentar nada, rescatar una declaraciones de su frontman que sirven para ilustrar lo que nos vamos a encontrar a continuación. Según el propio cantante, este es el disco que siempre soñaron hacer cuando eran unos chavales, cuando escuchaban a bandas como Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple y Black Sabbath.
No hace falta mencionar que cuando uno tiene la posibilidad de desarrollar sin presión algo que le gusta, siempre fluye una energía distinta que permite ensamblar las ideas e influencias con mucha más precisión. Este probablemente es el caso de War of Kings donde rápido descubrimos la fusión entre el hard rock ochentero marca de los suecos, aderezado con sus guitarras blueseras y en esta ocasión mas que nunca, numerosas influencias de las bandas que admiraban.
El disco abre con el tema escogido como primer sencillo War of kings y que nos deleita con un tema 100% marca de los suecos, pero donde ya nos encontramos con esos detalles setenteros que comentábamos previamente. Continuan con Hole in my pocket tema enérgico y rockero liderado por un Joey Tempest más bravucon. Tas esta bajan el ritmo con Second Day, tema de corte setentero que sirve a John Norum para despuntar con un efectivo solo. Seguimos en esa onda, pero añadiéndole esencia bluesera, Praise You nos traslada a tiempos pretéritos, donde cada nota está cargada de sentimiento. Nothing to ya parece un híbrido de influencias de las tres bandas señaladas. Genial la fusión instrumental a mitad de canción. California 405tema pausado en sintonía con el estilo practicado por Deep Purple o Whitesnake, que nos lleva a sentirnos más alejados de los propios Europe. Days of rock n roll es un tema Rainbow tanto a nivel musical como vocal, un gran corte muy pegadizo. Children of the mind es quizás algo más ochentero, de hecho suena a un intermedio entre Europe y Iron Maiden, curioso y posible, si alguien pensaba que eso no se podía dar.Rainbow bridge recupera sonidos árabes para sacar a flote un tema lleno de cambios. Quizás el tema más discordante dentro del álbum. Como no podía ser de otra manera Angels rescata a los mejores Europe para encumbrar a lo más alto, a esta sentida balada. Fabulosas tanto la interpretación de Joey Tempestagregando toda su sensibilidad y el magnífico trabajo al mástil de su compañero John Norum. Light me upes un tema típico de cierre sin demasiado que aportar al ser bastante lineal, pero que cumple con su cometido con la eficacia acostumbrada por los suecos.
En resumen, estamos ante un disco diferente donde son muy marcadas como hemos insistido todas esas influencias de los años setenta, restándole esa seña de identidad propia de los nórdicos en sus trabajos aunque por ello no deja de ser un lanzamiento interesante y cargado de buenas canciones.

Soul Aside, la banda de post rock catalana con miembros de Madee, Foscor o Sargon, al fin desvela todos los detalles de Canvas, su sensacional primer álbum. Canvas saldrá a la venta el próximo martes 7 de abril, pero de momento ya puedes disfrutar de su single ‘White Hole’.

While initially formed in 2004, it was only in May 2010 that the formation of Soen was announced, its lineup consisting of former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez, ex-Death, Testament and Sadus bassist Steve DiGiorgio, Willowtree vocalist Joel Ekelöf and guitarist Kim Platbarzdis. The group's first song, "Fraccions", was released on the band's official website on October 2010. Their first video, for the song "Savia", was posted on their Facebook page on February 2012. Their second video is a moody acoustic version of the song "Ideate". The band's third video is for the song "Delenda".
Drummer Martin Lopez has described Soen's music as "melodic, heavy, intricate and very different than everything else." Their debut, Cognitive, was released in February 2012 to positive critical reception, the members' technical proficiency receiving most praise, though many reviewers noted extreme stylistic similarities to the music of Tool.
Martin Lopez commented on the Tool similarity: "We are inspired by Tool but I consider them not only a band but a genre. Besides that, I really don’t think there’s anything to argue about, we make good music whoever it would remind you of. Some people tend to dislike rather than like and are looking for faults instead of seeing music for what it is, good or bad".
For those of you who missed the latest incarnation of Death To All on their previous tour last year, you’ve now been given a second chance. Although the members are different the idea remains the same, this time round on The Symbolic Tour we’ve got Bobby Koelble the original guitarist as well as the power house that is Gene Hoglan on drums and the infamous Steve DiGiorgio death metal’s most prominent bassist, filling for Chuck is Max Phelps after his brilliant performance.
Not only will the band be touring the Symbolic album, arguably Death’s most celebrated album but DTA have incredible support in tow, with Loudblast and death metal rumblers Abysmal Dawn.
The influence of Symbolic among the death metal community is immeasurable, single handedly the most melodic that band has been, with phenomenal song writing melding the perfect amount of ferocity with memorable vocal lines. Making it in my opinion the most accessible of all Death albums, instead of its technicality driven predecessor and the progressive jump on Death’s final release The Sound of Perseverance. Make sure that you get yourself down to one of these shows as there will more than likely not be another opportunity like this!

Richmond, Virginia's IRON REAGAN are true road warriors. After just wrapping up an extensive North American run (with Napalm Death, Voivod and Exhumed), the band has a quick break before heading over for their first-ever Australian tour, after which they will go back to the States for more US shows and then head over to Europe for a tour here.
Bassist Land Phil on touring Europe: "I am very excited to bring IRON REAGAN to all you crazy head bangers across the ocean. We have been busy as hell these past two years touring the US and Canada and have yet to get the opportunity to go overseas and play in front of some of the greatest audiences in the world.
